Read the NYT front page from your birthday

06 May

Looking for a fun diversion using the library databases?  Use the Historical Newspapers database to look up what articles appeared in historical newspapers on your birthday!

The password list for our databases is in the Library Resources folder on the dashboard of the Student Information course on itslearning.

For a quick and easy search, enter your birthday in the WHAT HAPPENED ON… box at the top right of the Historical Newspapers home page.  This returns all document types from all newspapers in our subscription: New York Times, Guardian/Observer, and three historic African American newspapers: Chicago Defender, Los Angeles Sentinel, and Baltimore Afro American.

If you’d like to see the front page of the New York Times as if you were holding the actual newspaper back in the day, follow these PDF instructions to use Advanced Search to make that happen.
