Floating poems on Poem in Your Pocket Day

22 Apr

Yesterday poems floated down on tiny umbrellas, drifting from the catwalk to the waiting hands of students in the Commons – as a loud drama voice shouted “Happy National Poem in Your Pocket Day!”.

The poem drop originally planned for lunchtime happened just after the last bell yesterday because noon found most students piled into the gym to watch dodgeball.

Gratitude to the library assistant team and their friends who released the poems – to everyone who caught a poem (particularly those who did so with dramatic flair) – and to the unsuspecting students who responded with a smile when a poem surprise-landed on their head or backpack.

Special thanks to library assistants Olivia and Leigh who selected the poems, folded them, and attached them to the tiny paper umbrellas.
