Reminder about search limiters in Science Direct

07 Oct

Since our subscription to Science Direct does not include ebooks, you’ll have fewer search frustrations if you open Advanced Search and click on the Journals tab.  Once here, limit DATES to 2010 to present since our school subscription only includes full-text access to articles from the most recent five years.

Journals Search also gives you the option to limit the search by document type, such as article and/or review article. Depending on your research goals, limiting to one or both of these document types may be useful. The image below shows what the search screen looks like with the proper options selected.

Also keep in mind that our subscription does not include off-campus access, so set aside time to search this database from school. If you choose to search from home, you won’t be able to access the full-text of the article, but you can still conduct searches. If you find a promising article published in the past five years, copy and paste the complete article citation (NOT the link to the article) into your notes so you can download the next time you’re on-campus.
