What do a well-equipped public library and a LEGO set have in common?

10 Mar

Both were recently used by a 16-year old and a 12-year old to leverage technology to help others.

  • In San Jose, 12-year old Shubham Banerjee used his LEGO set to construct a braille printer after he learned how the cost of braille printers prevents many blind people from owning one.
  • In Kansas, Mason Wilde, a high school junior, modified online plans for a prosthetic hand (called a robohand by some inventors) and used the Johnson County Public Library’s 3D printer to manufacture the parts so he could assemble a prosthetic hand for a young family friend.

How can you leverage your technology know-how to help others this year?
